Después de aprender Present Perfect, en esta lección aprenderemos Would.
Would es un verbo auxiliar utilizado por las siguientes razones:
Desire (Deseo) (would like & would love)
- I would like to go to Cuba this year (Me gustaria ir a Cuba este año)
- I wouldn’t like to be live in Mexico City (No me gustaría vivir en la ciudad de México)
- I would love some coffee right now (Me encantaría tomar un café ahora)
Conditional Mood (Estado de ánimo condicional)
- Would you ever donate an organ to a family member? (¿Donarías un órgano a un miembro de la familia?)
- Would you ever cheat on your husband/wife? (¿Engañarías a tu esposo / esposa?)
- Would you ever consider getting plastic surgery? (¿Alguna vez considerarías someterte a una cirugía plástica?)
Polite requests and invitations (Invitaciones y solicitudes educadas)
- Would you close the door, please? (¿Cerrarías la puerta, por favor?)
- Would you open this bottle for me? (¿Me abrirías esta botella?)
- It’s too difficult. Would you like to go to the movies with me tonight? (Es muy dificil. ¿Te gustaría ir al cine conmigo esta noche?)
Negative form
La forma negativa más común de would es wouldn’t would. No usamos don’t, doesn’t, didn’t with would
Examples
There wouldn’t be any food in the house (No habrá comida en la casa)
También podemos usar would not para la forma negativa
Your father would not approve (Tu padre no lo aprobaría)
Question form (Forma de pregunta)
El sujeto y would de posición para formar preguntas. No usamos do, does, did:
Would that be a good idea? (¿Sería esa una buena idea?)
Podemos tambiés usar would y wouldn’t en las Tag questions:
She wouldn’t be any help, would she?
They would enjoy that, wouldn’t they?
