Some / Any / No son determinantes, que se utilizan con mayor frecuencia como expresiones de cantidad. Estos determinantes aparecen antes de sustantivos contables y no contables (persona, lugares, cosas, animales)
Diferencias entre Some / Any / No
- Quantity – Some (juice) Any (chairs) No (time)
- Places – Somewhere Anywhere Nowhere
- People – Somebody Anybody Nobody
- Things (objects) – Something Anything Nothing
- Countable Nouns – students, people, men, dog, cat, bird, dollars, coins, dollars Songs, computer, bag
- Non-Countable Nouns – music, art, furniture Money, currency, rice, sugar, butter, water, coffee, milk

Used in positive sentences, affirmative statements, offers, requests and in questions when you expect the answer ›yes‹
- I have some candy in my purse (Tengo algunos dulces en mi bolso)
- I want something to drink (Quiero algo de beber)
- Would you like some coffee with your meal? (¿Quieres un café con tu comida?)
- Can I have some of these apples? (¿Puedo tener algunas de estas manzanas?)
ANY
Used in negative sentences and questions
- My family didn’t go anywhere (Mi familia no fue a ninguna parte)
- I don’t have anybody to take me (No tengo a nadie que me lleve)
- Do you have any pens in your bag? (¿Tienes bolígrafos en tu bolso?)
- Have you been anywhere in Europe? (¿Has estado en algún lugar de Europa?)
NO
Used in short answers and in positive sentences with a negative meaning
- Nobody arrived late for the test last Friday (Nadie llegó tarde a la prueba el viernes pasado)
- Did you do anything last weekend? (¿Hiciste algo el fin de semana pasado?)
- No, nothing (No, nada)
- I have no sisters (Same as: I don’t have any sisters) – (No tengo hermanas)
