Showing Possession

Después de aprender las Short and Long Answers, en esta lección aprenderemos Showing Possession.

Hay 3 formas diferentes de mostrar posesión en inglés americano:

1. Have/ Has (Tener)

  • I have a black pickup truck.
  • The student doesn’t have a computer.
  • What do you have in your purse?
  • Do you have any friends in the area?

2. Belong/ Belongs (Pertenecer)

  • The black car belongs to me.
  • The jacket doesn’t belong to you.
  • I belong to my career.
  • Does those keys belong to you?
  • Who does this computer belong to?

3. ’s (usado solo con la tercera persona en singular y plural) & (used when the noun/name ends in s)

Esta es la forma más común porque se usa no solo para mostrar posesión, sino también como parte de una oración más larga y detallada:

  • My friend’s father
  • Alex’s house
  • Carlos’ car
  • The car’s tire
  • The dog’s tail
  • My parents’ house

  • I love to go to my cousin’s house because he has a pool.
  • Jane’s brother plays poker with my brother.
  • We always listen to the students’ opinion in regards to our English lessons.

Pronombres posesivos singulares y plurales (Singular & Plural Possessive Pronouns)

  • That is mine.
  • My car runs great.
  • His work is good.
