Enough means sufficient, and it has different forms to be used in a sentence.
Modifying a noun: It always goes before. Examples:
- We din’t have enough carrots.
- There were enough candy bars for everybody.
- Have you been eating enough vegetables?
Modifying an adjective or adverb: It always goes after them. Examples:
- The red car isn’t fast enough.
- Please leave the classroom clean enough for other to use it..
As a noun. Examples:
- That’s enough! Give me the cellphone.
- I’ve had enough of your lies, leave me alone.
When we have enough along a noun and an adjective, remember, order matters:
- I’m sorry but we couldn’t find big enough clips. (meaning they are not the adequate size)
- I’m sorry but we couldn’t find enough big clips. (meaning they are not the adequate quantity)
