Después de aprender The use of Another, Other, Others and Else, en está lección aprenderás Different Uses of Too.
Aprende los 3 significados de «too«.
- El primer significado es «también» o «además»; el segundo significado es «excesivamente» o «extra».
- Choose the word «too» when it can be substituted for the word «also.»
- For example: «She felt awful too (also)»
- «I can see you too (also)».
2. Además, algunas personas lo usan para significar «muy». Piensa también como relevante cuando hay un aumento en algo, como temperatura, dificultad, etc .; por ejemplo, «too hot«, «too challenging» o «too soft«.
Use «too» to modify or emphasize a word.
- For example:
- «The weather is too (excessively) hot»,
- «I’ve eaten too (excessively) much»
- «The package is too (excessively/extra) big».
- «He wasn’t too (very) interested in my book.»
More examples:
- Teenagers spend too much time on Facebook. They should be more productive.
- I put too much sugar in my coffee and now I can’t drink it.
- There are too many university graduates in Aguascalientes and not enough jobs.
3. Very much and too much – We often use very much to emphasise verbs such as like, dislike, hope, doubt. We do not use too much in this way with these verbs:
- I like it very much because I got it from my husband.
- Not:
I like it too much…
