Placement of Enough

Después de aprender Causative Verbs, en está lección aprenderás Placement of Enough.

Enough means sufficient, and it has different forms to be used in a sentence.

Modifying a noun: It always goes before. Examples:

  • We din’t have enough carrots.
  • There were enough candy bars for everybody.
  • Have you been eating enough vegetables?

Modifying an adjective or adverb: It always goes after them. Examples:

  • The red car isn’t fast enough.
  • Please leave the classroom clean enough for other to use it..

As a noun. Examples:

  • That’s enough! Give me the cellphone.
  • I’ve had enough of your lies, leave me alone.

When we have enough along a noun and an adjective, remember, order matters:

  • I’m sorry but we couldn’t find big enough clips. (meaning they are not the adequate size)
  • I’m sorry but we couldn’t find enough big clips. (meaning they are not the adequate quantity)
