Hay 3 formas diferentes de mostrar posesión en inglés americano:
1. Have/ Has (Tener)
- I have a black pickup truck.
- The student doesn’t have a computer.
- What do you have in your purse?
- Do you have any friends in the area?
2. Belong/ Belongs (Pertenecer)
- The black car belongs to me.
- The jacket doesn’t belong to you.
- I belong to my career.
- Does those keys belong to you?
- Who does this computer belong to?
3. ’s (usado solo con la tercera persona en singular y plural) & ’ (used when the noun/name ends in s)
Esta es la forma más común porque se usa no solo para mostrar posesión, sino también como parte de una oración más larga y detallada:
- My friend’s father
- Alex’s house
- Carlos’ car
- The car’s tire
- The dog’s tail
- My parents’ house
- I love to go to my cousin’s house because he has a pool.
- Jane’s brother plays poker with my brother.
- We always listen to the students’ opinion in regards to our English lessons.
